Airstreamers of Fame: Tom Hanks' Custom Airstream Up For Auction

“I got it in the days when movies moved slower.” The six time Academy Award winning actor told Bonhams, who will put his 1992 travel trailer up for sale at the Bonhams Quail Lodge Auction. 

Hanks customized his 1992 Model 34 Limited Excella with a fireplace and replica windows of the 18 locations where the travel trailer was used on movie sets. 

The kitchen cabinets are filled with Hanks’ memorabilia, highlighted by an Apollo 13 mug signed by Hanks and the film’s co-stars, a cabinet and air conditioner autographed by Hanks, and several espresso machines. 

It’s also fitted with Hanks’ chosen sofa, emphasizing the actor’s goal of making the trailer “gorgeous and cozy”. 

The auction will open on August 13th without a reserve, meaning it will sell to the highest bidder no matter what the final bid ends up being. The Bonhams auction website pins its expected sale price between $150,000 and $250,000, more than four times the price of what the average 1992 Model 34 Limited Excella sells for today.
