Video Transcript for “How to Use the Entry Steps on an Airstream | Pete’s RV Quick Tips (Airstream Edition)”
Randy:[00:00:06] Hey guys, Randy with Pete’s RV TV here today. A quick tip for an Airstream. So today, we’re gonna take a look at this International and I’m gonna show you one of the things that, when I’m doing a walk-through, gets videotaped the most. It’s how to operate the Airstream stairs. So, let’s take a quick look and show you guys out around these things. So the first thing when you’re putting out the stairs on, one of these Airstreams is stand back. So we’re gonna want to grab these tabs, and there’s one on either side, and we’re just gonna want to lift them straight up. And that’s why I said, “Stand back,” because I’ve taken that in the knees a couple times and it’s not fun.
So at that point, the stair is out, I like to put pressure on both side of the stair ’cause sometimes both sides won’t lock in and if that’s the case, just pull out on the bottom and both sides will lock in. But I just push down on it, this one appears to be locked in, then I’m gonna take the stair, and this is where it gets complicated. If you do this improperly, it’s gonna be a real hard thing. It took me a while to figure it out as well. So you’re gonna want to tip it over, and continue to roll it. And we’ll roll it like that, and it is really as simple as that. But if you don’t do that step appropriately, it can become a real nightmare.
Putting it away is the same way. So we’ll take it, fold it in the middle, sometimes you need to push down on these to get them to fold, and we’re just gonna roll it. Now do be careful. Try to keep your hands in the middle ’cause this can be a heck of a finger pincher. Once it’s like that, I hold the middle, I drop it in. Stair’s ready to go up, and pull forward, and latch into place. So it is simple as that. So one more time, stay out of the way. Lift the lever, push down on both sides, make sure you got a positive lock, roll it over, continue to roll it over, and your stair’s down. Put it away, same way.
