The Exterior

Many travel trailers come with exterior storage options. You can use this space to store outdoor items, like fold-up chairs or camping gear. If your model doesn’t have this space or you want more external storage, you can invest in add-ons. Some of the common options include roof racks, front racks and rear hitch racks.

Hanging Storage

You can use the RV walls for more than just hanging paintings or photos! They can serve as extended storage space with a little bit of proactivity. You can add key hangers to easily keep your keys, sunglasses, hats, etc. Use broom holders for items such as flashlights and a broom. Attach Velcro strips to the sides of furniture or the wall to hang your remote.

Furniture Storage

The furniture in your trailer can often be doubled as containers for items with some creative purchases and alterations. A collapsible ottoman with storage allows you to rest your feet, store items such as blankets and books and collapse it when not in use. Place over-the-seat organizers to corral various odds and ends. Add slide-out drawers to your table for your pens, paper, deck of cards and other items.

Space-Saving Products

When you buy the right products for an RV, you can maximize space without sacrificing any comfort or convenience. You can get some great items to transform your crowded kitchen into a streamlined area. Stackable bowls and measuring cups easily fit inside each other. They will only take up as much space as the largest bowl/cup. Square food containers can stack on top of each other and be positioned close to each other with minimal space gaps.

You can get a foldable tea kettle that stays flattened when not in use. Put magnetic tape on your kitchen backsplash to hang your knives. Use a lazy susan to keep all of your spices easily accessible. Get an over-the-door trash basket that will take up less room than a traditional model. Use hanging baskets or hammocks for your fruits and vegetables.

The Closet

You have to take enough clothes along with you, especially if you’re on a long trip, but that doesn’t mean your clothes should take over the entire camper! Try not to carry along your whole wardrobe and only pack items that fit the season and occasions you’ll face. Rely on resources such as minimalist fashion ideas or capsule wardrobes to stay stylish on the road.

You can use a hanging storage container to corral your socks, pjs, sweats and other clothing items. Buy ultra-slim hangers that will take up less space so you can more easily fit bulkier items, such as coats or sweaters. Get hooks to put on your hangers for easy hanging of hats, ties, scarves, etc. Use a collapsible laundry tub or pop-up mesh hamper to keep dirty clothes in.

The Bathroom

If you’re traveling with your family, your bathroom may have been overrun with everyone’s personal items and products. You can minimize the chaos with a few nifty techniques. Use travel-sized products and smaller containers whenever possible. There’s no need to bring a massive bottle of shampoo if you’ll only be gone a few days! Use over-the-door holders or wall-mounted storage container options inside cabinet doors. Use wall-mounted organizers for various odds and ends such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, combs and razors.

Your Tow Vehicle

The good part about having a travel trailer is you’ll be taking along a tow vehicle too! You don’t have to fit everything into the trailer when you can use the tow vehicle space to your advantage too. Store items in your trunk and any open seats. You can also use roof racks to store items such as bikes or kayaks.
