Despite the condensed size of RV kitchens made for cooking anywhere, making a great meal in an Airstream can be a very intimidating concept. How do you put it all together in a small space with less kitchen tools than most homes? Consider some of Airstream’s Endless Caravan blog kitchen hacks.

Keep Your Space Neat

That cutting board that came in the sink? That’s where it belongs! Clear the whole counter and dinette of any kitchen clutter and cook in an area more conductive than you might think to vegetable chopping. Little tricks like cutting board placement and limiting how many pots and pans you use per meal can really save space.

Utilize the Campfire

Many campgrounds have one, and it’s great for socializing! Even if you aren’t cooking up hot dogs and s’mores over the fire, it’s something for friends to do and a place to sit while sharing a big meal. Plus, it keeps the body heat out of the Airstream on a too hot night, and warms the body on a too cold one.

Meal Prep

If you’re going on a shorter camping trip and really don’t want to spend any time cooking at the end of a day, chop it all up before you go! Cutting up veggies before you go and planning out what meals you make and what goes in them drastically reduces cooking time.

Wipe Your Dishes

The most time consuming part of washing dishes, especially with limited water, is getting the sticky old gunk off. You can eliminate this possibility by clearing your dishes off with a napkin right after using them, which is also great for conserving water and tank room while boondocking. It also makes them much easier to stack into a neat pile to be taken to a campground’s dishwashing area, or just placed less haphazardly in your sink.

At the end of the day, you’ll get as much success from cooking as the effort you put in, so don’t be afraid to get creative and have some fun!
